I’ve always had an interest in crafts and have completed workshops including stained glass, pottery and spinning fibre (silk and wool) and belonged to the Nambucca Valley Spinners & Weavers group.
My interest in making jewellery started about 40 years ago when I painted wildflowers on some wooden beads and gave them to my sister-in-laws as Christmas gifts. I’m self taught other than a couple of tutorials from videos & books; however I’ve been making jewellery in my home studio now for about 8 years, specializing in complex bead embroidery. Approximately 6 years ago I discovered polymer clay and how versatile this medium could be; by incorporating polymer clay into some of my bead embroidered designs allows me to create whimsical and unique designs, which I sell on my website, and artist markets. I also use this medium to make a range of beautiful earthy toned beads that I make into necklaces and other jewellery. More recently I’ve become interested in precious metal clay (PMC) silver, bronze & copper and plan to include these mediums into my designs .
My aim now is to present an individual collection of handmade jewellery from simple to extravagant. As an artist I believe my passion and creativity shows in each piece; making each design unique and to be cherished forever.
